  1. Merryn Rutledge presents: Poems in 3-D: How Poems Engage Our Whole Self

    May 16, 2023, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
    @
    Fearing/Trustees Conference Room

Poems ask us to respond not only with emotion and thought, but also, as when listening to or making music, poems give us “felt sense” in and from our physical selves. In this three-part discussion series, we will explore poems to see how they not only invite us to recollect with emotion and tranquility (to paraphrase Coleridge), but also call on body wisdom through description, image, rhythm, and various other aspects of form. In this highly interactive class, we will listen to and discuss poems by well-known poets such as John O’Donohue, Countee Cullen, and Louise Gluck, and lesser-known voices like Jennifer Freed and Jane Wong. Come to have fun, listen, and learn, whether you are a novice, simply curious, an accomplished poet, or teacher/scholar.

Registration for this 3-part series has closed.
