This is a monthly financial literacy program designed to educate women of any age about the financial matters that affect their lives. Using easy-to-understand concepts, without financial jargon, the program provides information, resources, learning activities and moderators to educate and create a safe and welcoming place for women to learn, share their experiences, and ask questions.This event is hosted by the Darien Library and will be held on Zoom. Drop by the library's Training Room anywhere between the hours of 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to learn about the various digitalization equipment we have for your use; both in the library, and at home. Technology Services Librarian, Robby St. John, will be answering questions and giving quick demonstrations of the conversation equipment. She will also set up future appointments to use the Training Room equipment if at checkout options are not available. No registration required for this program.
In case you missed this summer blockbuster in theatres, we'll be showing Barbie, the highest-grossing live-action comedy film of all time, as our November movie night feature! Margot Robbie plays "Stereotypical Barbie," who is having an existential crisis about her place in the idyllic Barbieland. To try and solve her problems, she travels to the real world with Ken (Ryan Gosling), where they both discover things are very different than they believed. With an all-star cast, a terrific soundtrack, and a perfect blend of humor and social commentary, this is a thoroughly entertaining film. So bring a friend and join us on Wednesday, November 15th at 7pm, or Thursday, November 16th at 1pm!
Join us for an open play time with the Library's huge collection of LEGO bricks! We'll build for an hour and then put our creations on display in the Children's Department. No registration is necessary.
This month our 2nd & 3rd Grade Book Group is reading "The Last Firehawk: The Ember Stone" by Katrina Charman. The book is available as an eBookthrough Overdrive/Libby and hoopla, or you can pick up a physical copy at the Children's Desk.This program will be held in-person at the Library. No registration is required to join us. We hope to see you there!
