This class is for students new to chess. Participants will learn the basics of play during this eight-week series (January 4 - February 22) including how to set up the board, the rules of the game, understanding basic rule nuances, and the difference between checkmate and stalemate. Each week of the series builds on the skills learned during the previous weeks' lessons.This event will be held on Zoom. This class is for students who are familiar with chess basics and are interested in instructional play. In this eight-week series (January 4 - February 22) slightly more advanced Chess principles and strategies will be introduced. Participants will learn by solving chess puzzles or playing as a team against the instructor.
