Plants taking over your yard? House plants growing out of control? Bring your plants, cuttings, and seeds to the library for our annual plant swap! Exchange your old plants for new and chat with other gardening enthusiasts. Everyone is welcome, and it's free!
Children's Department
Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!Our listening teams are scheduled for Saturday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 - with some weeks held in-person and some via Zoom. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up.To register for a session, please call the Children's Department at 781-741-1405 ext. 1403. We hope you can join us! May is Mental Health Awareness Month! All teens are invited to join us for this relaxing program with yoga teacher Paula McCree to help with your stress. This is a 45 minutes practice during which participants will experience breathing exercises, gentle seated yoga, and a guided meditation. Participants will learn practices that can be used anytime and anywhere to manage stress. No experience needed.Space in this event is limited, and registration is required. To join us, please register online. Paula is a Hingham resident and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) 200 Basic Hatha and Pranotthan and a Certified Positivity and Relaxation Training Instructor. She infuses mindful principles based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program designed by Jon Kabat-Zinn into her classes and has been teaching since 2011.
