Joe Bagley is the city archaeologist for Boston, Massachusetts and runs the Boston Archaeology Program. His first book, A History of Boston in 50 Artifacts, chronicled the story of the city as seen through the items discovered beneath it. His new book, a companion to the first, focuses on the 50 oldest buildings in Boston and their histories of preservation and stewardship.
