This class is for students new to chess. Participants will learn the basics of play during this four-week series (January 5, 12, 19 and 26) including how to set up the board, the rules of the game, understanding basic rule nuances, and the difference between checkmate and stalemate.Registration for this event has closed. This class is for students who are familiar with chess basics and are interested in instructional play. In this eight-week series slightly more advanced Chess principles and strategies will be introduced. Participants will learn by solving chess puzzles or playing as a team against the instructor.Registration for this event has closed. Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!Our listening teams are scheduled for Saturday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 - with some weeks held in-person and some via Zoom. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up.To register for a session, please call the Children's Department at 781-741-1405 ext. 1403. We hope you can join us!
