Film Screening and Q&A: Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare’s Shipwreck

Wednesday, June 16, 2021

The Hingham Public Library in partnership with Harbor Media is pleased to present a film screening of the exciting new documentary Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare’s Shipwreck with a follow up zoom Q&A with the filmmakers.

The film follows the story of the only Mayflower passenger who had been to North America before, Stephen Hopkins, and his trials and tribulations. From castaway and mutiny on Bermuda, martial law in Virginia, and immortalization as the drunken Stephano in Shakespeare’s final play, The Tempest.

The film will be broadcast on your local community access channel on Sunday June 13 at 3pm and again on Wednesday June 16 at 5pm directly before the Q&A which will start at 7pm on June 16.

The Q&A portion of this event will be held on Zoom. To join us, please register online, and we will email you the link shortly before the program.
