Library Building Closed - Reopening Plan
Update on Reopening of Library and other Municipal Facilities
As part of the next step in Hingham’s municipal phased reopening process, the Hingham Public Library will reopening to the public in a limited capacity on June 1. Town Hall and the Senior Center will return to full in-person staffing on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. In addition, the Recreation Department is moving forward with a wide array of spring and summer programming.
June 1 was chosen as it gives Town employees and residents the time and opportunity to get vaccinated once the vaccine becomes available to the general public on April 19. As of April 8, about one quarter (27%) of Hingham residents were fully vaccinated.
The Reopening Plan for the Hingham Public Library can be found below.
Below is a brief overview of the first phase of the reopening plan for the Library:
30-minute time limit
50% building capacity limit
Browsing, checkout, limited computer use only
Meeting rooms and study rooms unavailable
Self–service holds pickup and checkout
Contact tracing and masks required for entry
Programs and technology services offered online only
No in-person meetings or tutoring allowed
Hours limited for cleaning and disinfecting
Implementing the above changes on June 1 is an important next step toward a return to normal, and we appreciate the public’s patience and support throughout the pandemic. We will continue to make the health and safety of our residents and staff our top priority, while still delivering a high level of service to the community. We’ve missed you and we look forward to seeing you again at the Library!
