About the Reference Department
The reference desk is staffed by 3 professional librarians, one of whom is always available to the public whenever the library is open.
Our job is to assist patrons in finding whatever information they need, whether it resides in our library, in another library, or in cyberspace.
We are also available to instruct patrons in the use of the online catalog, the research databases, and the Internet.
Each reference staff member is trained in reader advisory work. We will be pleased to help you find leisure reading that matches your personal tastes. To learn more, click on the Reader Services link to the left.
In addition to standard reference books, we have access to databases that provide the full text of many periodicals and newspapers covering current events, science, the humanities, business, and medicine. We also subscribe to the Value Line and Morningstar investment services.
Free Internet access is available to patrons who are fifteen or older. There is a small charge for Internet printing. No time limits are set on use of the
computers; however, we ask patrons to be considerate of others who may be waiting their turn.
