  2. Evening with the Author: Richard Webb Jr. presents Boats Against the Current

February 10, 2021, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Online via Zoom -- New to Zoom? Watch this short video.

The Hingham Public Library is pleased to welcome historian and author Richard Webb Jr. for a reading and discussion of his book "Boats Against the Current: The Honeymoon Summer of Scott and Zelda". The book covers the history of F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda during their honeymoon in Westport, CT in 1920 and provides research to back up the author's hypothesis that Westport is actually the inspiration for Fitzgerald's most famous novel "The Great Gatsby". Specifically, the book addresses Fitzgerald's reclusive, multi-millionaire Westport neighbor F.E. Lewis and provides evidence supporting the theory that Lewis was the real life Gatsby.
