    Come hear the story of Hingham citizen and Revolutionary War General Benjamin Lincoln told like never before. Dressed in colonial military attire, historical speaker and ex-Hingham Militia member Al Chambers will be joined by Town Historian Alex MacMillan and Army Reserve Lt. Colonel William Ramsey to detail the personal, political, and military life of one of Hingham's most notable men.

    Saturday Science is back for its third year and this time, It’s Alive! This year’s program features the vibrant and dynamic nature of the sciences, tailored to two elementary school-age groups (K-2 and 3-5; Age limits are strictly enforced to ensure a positive experience for all children.)

    Saturday Science sessions expose kids to different scientific fields and the leading female scientists in those fields. Each session includes a hands-on experiment or craft activity.

    This program requires registration. Please register online or by calling 781-741-1405 ext. 1403.

    This program has been funded in part by the Hingham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. We are grateful for their support.

  3. Read-to-a-Dog

    Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!

    The program takes place each Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up. Please reserve a spot by calling the Children's Department at 781-741-1405 ext. 1403.

    All teens in grades 6 and up welcome! Drop-in event. New members are always welcome! We meet biweekly throughout the summer to discuss that meeting's books and chat over snacks. Library copies of the book will be made available at the children's desk.
