  6. Memoir Writing

    Class participants will write pieces on a variety of subjects--childhood memories, stories about family members and friends, trips they've taken, historical events important in their lives, changes in culture they've observed over the years, every day activities and other true-life topics. Class will be led by Frank Mellen who has been teaching memoir writing at the Senior Center for more than five years and produced three anthologies of writers' favorite contributions, all of which are part of the library collection and available for circulation. Most writing is completed outside of class and class members share and discuss their stories and encourage others. If you are interested in writing or have already begun doing so, we would love to have you join the group. The class will meet twice per month, April 10 & 24, May 15 & 22, and June 5 & 19. Registration required.

  11. Remembering the Hingham Shipyard Through Film

    The Hingham Department of Veterans' Services are pleased to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day with a showing of the documentary "Remembering the Hingham Shipyard" which chronicles Hingham's enormous contributions to the war effort through the Bethlehem-Hingham Shipyard and the collective efforts of thousands of Hingham citizens during WWII.

    This event coincides with a scheduled showing of the film on June 4th at 4pm at the Hingham Town Hall, which will include the unveiling of a new collection of WWII artifacts directly related to the Hingham Shipyard. More information about the June 4th commemoration event can be found here on the Town of Hingham website.
