Read-to-a-Dog: Friday (a Labradoodle) and her partner, Tracey, are our listeners today.2019-01-26T10:30:00Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!
The program takes place each Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up. Please reserve a spot by calling the Children's Department at 781-741-1405 ext. 1403.

Suzuki Demonstration Class: Arranged by the South Shore Conservatory2019-01-29T16:00:00This demo class will feature student performances along with a lesson demonstration with Suzuki Guitar students. In addition to observing, participants will get to interact with group class activities centered around the guitar as well as having an opportunity to hold and play a guitar. Ages recommended are 4-6.
Suzuki method lessons are designed to tap into certain ways that very young children learn best. They are taught initially by rote and by ear and a parent assists in lessons and practice to help reinforce and model for the child. The approach is built to parallel language learning which is something that every child can do and so the philosophy of Suzuki includes the idea that every child is musical if given an environment that fosters their musical growth.
