    November's Topic: Water | Scientist: Gitanjali Rao

    Saturday Science is back for it’s third year and this time, It’s Alive! This year’s program features the vibrant and dynamic nature of the sciences, tailored to two elementary school-age groups (K-2 and 3-5. Age limits are strictly enforced to ensure a positive experience for all children.)

    Saturday Science sessions expose kids to different scientific fields and the leading female scientists in those fields. Each session includes a hands-on experiment or craft activity. The Saturday Science team was founded by Foster Elementary School parents Sonia Steele and Dr. Katie McBrine, and the team has expanded to include local parents Marie Bohane (Plymouth River Elementary), Lauren Gadot (East School), and Cassie Saitow (Hull).

  3. Read to Friday and Tracey - new members of our Reading to a Dog teams

    Read to Friday! – a trained therapy dog | Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence as well as self-esteem. Friday and Tracey, will be our listening team on Nov. 03 and Dec. 22. Friday is a Labradoodle who is adorable as well as an excellent listener. Reservations are required. Please call the Children's & Young Adult room at 781-741-1405, ext. 1403 to reserve. This program is suitable for children ages 5 and up. *Please call the Children’s and Young Adult Department to register for your preferred sitting. Suitable for kids age 5 and up.

  5. Parent/Child Book Group for 2nd & 3rd Grade: "The Unicorn Rescue Society: The Creature of the Pines" by Adam Gidwitz, Illustrated by Hatem Aly

    After encountering a Jersey Devil while on a field trip to the Pine Barrens, Elliot and his new friend Uchenna help their weird teacher Professor Fauna rescue the mythological creature from a pair of greedy billionaire brothers. This is a parent/guardian & child book group for children in 2nd & 3rd grade. Library copies of the book will be available at the children’s desk for participants about one month prior to the meeting date.
