Lecture by Peter Marotta – The Trustees, Engagement Site Manager – Worlds End Reservation and Michael Achille - Local History Librarian - Hingham Public Library.
Hingham, MA, a town steeped in tradition has a long list of notable residents – Among them, the Brewer Family. As wealthy Bostonians, the family first began summering in Hingham in the 1800’s, and over the course of a century they would create a lasting legacy, imprinting the cultural fabric of Hingham in more ways than one. In this lecture, we will explore the many ways the Brewer family impacted their town – from the estate on Martin’s Lane & World’s End Farm, to the gift of a cherished Hingham landmark - ‘The Old Ordinary’, and to the donation of Moore Brewer Park. Throughout our talk we will show rare footage of farming activity in the 1920’s at World’s End and describe the impact the Brewer’s left on our experience at World’s End Reservation today.
