    Our Read to a Dog program provides a supportive environment to practice reading! Reading to trained therapy dogs helps develop literacy skills and builds confidence and self-esteem. Our canine friends are all wonderful, patient listeners who are looking forward to reading with you!

    Our listening teams are at the Library on Saturday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 in the Children's Department. Reading sessions last 15 minutes and are for children ages 5 and up.

    To register for a session, please call the Children's Department at 781-741-1405 ext. 1403. We hope you can join us!

  3. Preschool Storytime, Ages 3-5

    Children and their caregivers will listen to entertaining books, sing songs and make a fun and simple craft. This imaginative Storytime quietly builds language skills and fosters literacy proficiency, and each week's craft encourages preschool motor skill development.

    This storytime session begins Monday, March 6 and runs through Monday, April 3.

  13. Touch-A-Truck at the Library

    Outside the Children's Entrance

    Touch-A-Truck is a fun family event to be enjoyed by kids of all ages! The trucks will be parked along the side of the library near the Children's entrance. Trucks graciously provided by the Town of Hingham DPW, Hingham Municipal Light, and the National Guard.

  15. Storytime & Social Hour with Officer Tom Ford and Opry, Hingham's comfort dog

    Hingham High School Resource Officer, Tom Ford and Opry will be at the library for a Storytime and social hour. Opry is a mixed-breed rescue pup who works with the Hingham Police Department. She has undergone extensive training to prepare for her role as a comfort dog. Families are invited to meet and socialize with Officer Ford and Opry after the storytime. This is a drop-in event.

  17. Pop Up Art School, Clay Bees, ages 9+

    Clay Bees with Pop Up Art - This program is two clay projects in one! Participants will make a large bee and a cardboard honeycomb. While the bees dry, students will make the second project of mini bees on a clay honeycomb. Once the larger bees have dried, you can take a group photo of all the bees together in their honeycombs.
