Janell Scannell and Lisa Walker are the co-creators of a wonderful independent art program for kids called Pop Up Art. It is perfect for that hard-to-capture upper elementary child. Scannell and Walker bring all the necessary supplies for the selected project and oversee it from beginning to completion, and the kids leave with their own “work of art”! The February class will explore Georgia O’Keefe and focus on collage and scale. O’Keefe was a watercolor painter and is best known for her paintings of flowers. Her images enlarge the flower so that it becomes an abstract image of sinuous curves. We will re-create the look of translucent watercolors by collaging tissue paper pieces onto paper. For children ages 8 to 14. Reservations are necessary and made be made by calling the children’s department at 781-741-1405. ext 1403 beginning on Feb. 01.
