The Hingham Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is a great way to keep kids motivated to read during the summer months. Participants receive fun prizes each week for reading, and because there are no specific requirements or commitments, it is easy to fit the library’s reading program into a busy summer schedule. Registration for this summer's reading program, Libraries Rock, begins on Monday, June 18! (If you cannot make it that week, do not worry, you can register throughout July.)
Our summer activities begin on June 25! Opening highlights include our Summer Reading Overture with the South Shore Conservatory on Tuesday, June 26 at 4 PM, a unique program that includes a Family Sing Along and a Suzuki demonstration. On Wednesday, June 27, staff from the Rhode Island Computer Museum will be at the library teaching kids to “Make Your Own Video Game” (ages 9 to 11 – Registration required).
Other summer offerings are the return of the ever popular Inventor Mentors, Pop Up Art, Storytime(s) as well as STEAM with Mary Ellen, book groups (for ages 8 and up – beware the summer slide!) and a host of other activities. Some programs need registration. Visit our online calendar to see all our summer programs and events.
