Monday, July 31 at 7:00 pm -- Whether you are growing vegetables, perennials, or ornamental shrubs and trees, the best way to have healthy plants is to start with healthy soil. And the best way to create healthy soil is to add compost! Making compost in your backyard allows you to recycle yard and leaf waste as well as food prep scraps into "black gold." Come learn the tricks of how to make compost in a backyard bin by adding the proper mix of "browns" and "greens." We will also include instructions for how to make an indoor worm composting bin for your garage or basement to handle food waste during the winter.
This workshop will be presented Janice McPhillips who has over 30 years of experience as a backyard gardener, URI Master Composter, Master Urban Gardener and has been working at Holly Hill Farm in Cohasset as a Farm and School Garden Educator since 2008.
