Evening with the Author: Susan Edgecomb presents Clearing in the West: Navigating the Journey Through Loss, Grief, and Healing

Tuesday, November 16, 2021

When Susan Edgecomb's brother Lt. Curtis E. Chase was killed in Vietnam in May of 1967, the Chases became a Gold Star Family. Her father died just two and a half years later. When their daughter was just three, her husband died of a heart attack. She needed to find her own way to learn to cope, grow, and meet the challenges of finding a new self and a meaningful life. With support, she learned it is essential to experience feelings of sadness and loss in order to heal.

Sue aims to share what she learned about loss and grief with others who are struggling. It is not a “how to book” but rather a highly personal sharing of how her own path has made her more resilient and constructive in her approach to what life brings.

Sue grew up in Hingham in the 50’s and early 60’s and later became a third grade teacher in Wellesley for thirty-five years. After retiring she began writing. Her essay about visiting The Wall in D.C. and finding her brother’s name, was published in The Boston Globe.
