BCGS Virtual Concert: Thatcher Harrison

Sunday, January 31, 2021

The Hingham Public Library and the Boston Classical Guitar Society are pleased to offer this season's concert series in a virtual way!

This program will be held via Zoom. To join us, please register online, and we will email you the link shortly before the meeting.

Thatcher Harrison is a guitarist and composer. As a guitarist, he plays everything from classical guitar to jazz guitar, to fingerstyle guitar, to popular/rock guitar. As a composer, he deftly combines influences from many genres of music to create pieces that satisfy both the heart and the mind.

An accomplished competitor, Thatcher has won 16 prizes in regional, national, and international music competitions, most notably 1st Prize at the 2020 Boston Guitarfest Online Academy Competition, 1st Prize at the 2020 Atlanta Festival Guitar Competition (Senior Division), 1st Prize at the 2019 Domaine Forget Guitar Competition (17-and-under division), and being a winner of the 2019 National YoungArts Foundation Competition (Classical Music division).

Thatcher has performed in notable concert halls, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, Symphony Hall, and Domaine Forget Concert Hall. Thatcher also performed on Episode #376 of NPR’s From The Top in 2019. Thatcher has also completed numerous commissions as a composer.

Thatcher is currently studying for his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at New England Conservatory with Eliot Fisk and Jérôme Mouffe, and he also studies privately with flamenco virtuoso Grisha Goryachev and classical guitar virtuoso Scott Borg.

The Hingham Library and the Boston Classical Guitar Society gratefully acknowledge the support of Coastal Heritage Bank for this season's concert series.
